Zhana is a single mother in Tbilisi who, without secure housing or stable income, is trying to give her teenage daughter Elene a more dignified life. In an unregulated surrogacy industry, pregnancy becomes work and the promised income quickly disappears, pushing her from one pregnancy to the next as her health deteriorates.

Ketevan Vashagashvili, who has followed Zhana’s family for years, observes the mother-daughter relationship at close range and examines the line between choice, economic coercion, love and exploitation.
