Biography

Balkan Zoo is a band of bassist and composer Mario Rašić (Goran Bare and Majke, Edo Maajka), who has been promoting music with Balkan elements in new, modern arrangements for 10 years. Flamenco singer Nina Ćorić joins him on his new album "Recycle", composed of popular Roma songs colored by jazz, hip hop and electronic flamenco. With the first single "Geljan dade" they opened a new Balkan Zoo stage, which, as the name of the new album"Recycle" suggests, brings traditional Roma songs turned into progressive world music expression through recycling done by top musicians, arrangements and vocal soloists. With this project, the artists wish to point to prejudice against, but also to the richness of the cultural heritage of the Roma, attempting to contribute to positive change in society. Through their interpretation of Roma music, their goal is to build new bridges of understanding, friendship and coexistence. The band's line-up with Mario Rašić on bass and vocalist Nina Ćorić consists of: drummer and percussionist Mirsad Dalipi (Edo Maajka, Gipsy Groove, Asylum Jazz Trio), keyboardist Reo Radan (Nina Badrić, Caiman Verde), clarinettist Imi Istrefi, guitarist Amba Tručali and guitarist Amir Karali Zvonimir Bajevic.
